I have already applied and gotten accepted to the school of my choice (Brenau University) (private, in state georgia)
tuition = 20,000
room and board = 10,000

I already received a 11,500 academic scholarship and i qualify for a full tuition scholarship competition that occurs in February. both of these require me to live on campus. If i choose not to, I only get 6500 in scholarships.
SATS
math = 700
critical reading = 620
writing = 660

GPA = 3.806 (all classes)
but my GPA on the schools calculator is 4.0

I live in a single parent home and my mom has one other child. she makes about 32000 a year. (+ 108 a week from my child support)

I am trying to debate whether or not I should live on campus and how much money i should receive from financial aid. I know I will get hope which is 2000 a semester for private college but what else is out there? Please help! I am trying to get as much money towards this as possible. This is my dream school! If i can't get enough money, I will have to settle for UGA or North Georgia...

It sounds as if you might be eligible for a Pell grant of up to $5550/year. You’ll have to get an estimated EFC from by using one of the online calculators such as fafsa4caster. If you post your EFC here, someone will tell you how much you should receive. You’ll also be eligible for Stafford loans of up to $5500 your first year, and possibly some campus need based aid such as Perkins loans, federal work study, SEOG and grants from your school. It sounds like you could get enough to make it work…apply for some local scholarships too as they can help with book expenses, new computer, dorm set up costs, etc.

Do you qualify for HOPE? Are you instate for Georgia?

Are you applying to any financial safety schools besides UGA and NG (which it sounds like you don’t want to go)?

Are you testing again?

What is your likely major???

Mom2CK: From the OP’s text: “I know I will get hope which is 2000 a semester for private college but what else is out there?”

That makes the OP in-state and eligible for Hope.

ahhh…I missed the HOPE reference.
