I'm filling out this financial aid form and it asks "Which persons, including the applicant, are or will be in school or university?"
And then I have to write the name of the university, the cost of attendance, and the amount I will pay. But how would I know which university I will be attending?

Should I put the name of the university to which I'm applying for financial aid? Even if I don't get in?

Anyone? Please I don’t know what to do!

Are you an international student? If so, yes, the question is for a specific university, is it not? So, yes, you do need to put in the costs for that school,

Re-read the form carefully.

It may be asking about other family members who will be studying at the same time as you. In that case you would need to give the information for each of those people.

momof1: I typed exactly what it said on the form, so yes, both me and other family members who will be studying next year.

If, for example, I’m applying to Harvard should I write down the costs for Harvard? Because it sounds stupid, why would they ask me about their own costs? I’m really confused.

If you are an international student, which I asked, it’s very important that you list the costs for all family members who are studying next year, because that determines how much money your family can afford and how much financial aid you have to be given to even be issued a student visa to come to study here. It’s not as crucial for most US students, as there is some flex to the travel and the info does not go to immigration or other government agency who run the numbers to determine whether you are even allowed to come into the country. Your family accounts and projected spending will be scrutinized.

That’s if you are an international student.

While I appreciate your answer, this is NOT what I asked. I simply asked about which school I should list as my future university and that’s it! I know how to deal with the other stuff about international students myself.

The thing is Anna, that is not a question otherwise asked for US students. When you are an international student, you get asked things that US students are not. For fin aid, that is also the case Apparently you don’t know all about international student stuff yourself or you would not be asking this question. You are probably an international student asking for financial aid which is why this is coming up, and yes, your answers weil veriied and if you don’t answer them properly and your paper work is not in more pristine shape than most US students, your chances for acceptance can be jeopardized.

You list the costs of the university asking the question and you have to file one for each school.
