Financial aid in U of Florida for OOS?

The total cost of living in UFl amounts to around 50k or so.
What I’m looking for is an organised method to go about while looking for financial aid.
How much will FAFSA, Pell Grants and University grants amount to? Is it based on merit or financial need?
Thanks a lot

Any FA awarded through FAFSA, which would included Pell grants, federal subsidized loans, and supplemental grants form the federal government, are need based only. You won’t get them unless your income is low. You can always take a federal loan by filing the FAFSA.

The university may give grants and those can be based on need or merit. You need to check the UF webpage for info. At big public schools, there usually aren’t a lot of scholarships. There might be a few grants.

It is very difficult to get anywhere $50k in grants.

If you qualify for Pell and you’re not a Florida resident, UF is not affordable.
What are your stats? What state do you live in? What’s your income or your EFC and/or how much your parents can pay out of pocket (from income and savings)?

You’ve said on several other threads asking for the same info about other colleges that you are out of state (living overseas, but American) and your family income is ~$60k. Unless there is some financial twist you’re not telling us about, you’re not likely to afford any college unless it’s one that meets full need. UF is not one of them.

Family income= less than $60000

You’re OOS for all publics since you don’t live in the us.

With that income, you’d get very little Pell grant. UF will not be affordable. Run the npc and you’ll see. Plus you’d have to buy insurance… and you’d have to figure a couple thousand a year minimum for int’l travel.

How much will your parents pay each year?

The most I see you getting from UF is maybe a $2k Pell Grant and a $5,500 loan…and a mega huge gap.

You’re not a resident, your parents don’t pay taxes there, so FL expects your family to pay.

You need to look for colleges where your stats will give you a shot at merit plus all private colleges that meet need or where you’d betop 25% for a sort of preferential packaging.
If you really want Florida, you can try the FSU system whereby you spend your first year abroad then get instate tuition for the next three years.
