Financial aid info received..help please.

Hello....My son auditioned for UNCSA on Jan 15 and has yet to hear anything. Saturday, we received a letter in the mail requesting financial aid info, such as my income and his. If he wasn't accepted or even considered then why would I need to supply them with my income? Has anyone experienced this?? Thank you!

If you want UNCSA to consider your son for financial aid, you need to provide them with the information they are requesting. Did you complete a FAFSA form for him (is he a college student?)?

We’ve already completed the FASFA and he’s a high school senior…I’m just not sure why they are wanting more info. I’m giving them a call to see what it’s all about…hopefully it’s a yes.

proudmomNnc…

As the parent of another of those auditioning kids…be prepared to give all sorts of information to schools that may or may not admit your kiddo into his major. My d is auditioning for 9 schools…she can only attend one…but we have done FAFSA and reported to each, Profile for 2, sent additional scholarship info to some who’ve asked for it, she’s attending scholarship competitions for schools (academic) in addition to her auditions w/out knowing her status…

You need to fully “court” each school with the information they want…it’s frustrating, and it may yield a yes or no outcome…but you’ve got to jump through the hoops – academic application, artistic audition, scholarship and FA apps…

I wish your son nothing but the best. My kiddo has completed 7 of 9 of her auditions (girl, musical theatre, astoundingly competitive programs…). She hopes to be 1:4 females chosen from an auditionee pool of 850+ at one school, to move off the deferred list at another, where they may choose up to 10, after auditioning 600, etc…

Generally, the FA office isn’t going to know admission status from the audition. Many schools don’t notify anything until the end of their auditions. Does he receive academic acceptance separately, or as part of artistic? D’s schools that do the 2-part acceptance have accepted her academically, and want that additional info (as well as her deposit and signature on their scholarship offers…but none of that has to be turned in until May 1!!). Other schools notify along the way, with “no” letters coming out sooner…so the longer there’s no news, the better!!

Best to him in the process!! What type of audition (drama, MT, music, dance?) was it? Does he have other schools in the mix that you’ll jump through these same hoops for?
