Financial Aid - limit is 146 units?

I was talking to my minor adviser the other day and he told me the limit for the financial aid is 146 units. Is this true?

I planned on taking a year and studying abroad for a year but I really can't without my financial aid because USC costs so much :/ Can anybody tell me? I can't see anywhere on Fin aid website that states it.

I thought it said on the USC study abroad web site that your scholarship or financial aide transfers to study abroad. Are you taking more than 4 years to complete your education?
Also, I have the impression that USC tends towards junior year spring semester abroad, although a full year study abroad is possible. Also, 4 years is 32 credits X 4 years. i.e.128 units to graduate. Why can't you finish your education with study abroad within 146 units?
Are you taking beyond the limit?

My study abroad doesn't count towards any requirement, I just wanted to go for personal growth and language enhancement. It just has been my long dream to study abroad, so I always thought I would during college.
This will set me back a year, so I'll graduate in 5 years rather than in 4. I'll attempt to study abroad in my senior year (and then after that I'll be a super senior yay). My parents can't pay for me to study abroad on their own so this is why I'm trying to do this during USC even though it'll take me one more year.
I've been taking 18U since sophomore year (Jr right now) so I won't have extra 18units left over either (if I only took 16U a semester)

I suggest that you go to the USC study abroad office and see if you can find a program you like which will give you credits. They also have summer study abroad which would give you an opportunity for foreign language in another country. Have you considered summer study abroad or some type of volunteer summer abroad in an international country?

I thought about summer programs but those usually just require full prices unless I get some scholarships I think. I really do want to go for a semester or a year rather than just the summer :/.

and there's no study abroad program that'll give me credits because I'm in the cinema school in a new major. It'll give me elective credits but I do have alot of those already. sigh. I asked study abroad office this week and they said call back around november for next fall programs. After I get through with them, I'll probably will have to go through fin aid office.

But once again does anybody actually know if 146 is the limit? That's all I'm really curious about.

^eck i dont think I'll be eligible for it then... I did change my major but I can do it with in 4 years, not 5 years. I changed my major and have a minor.. uh maybe they'll let me? this is frustrating. In my old major I had a full semester free so I could've studied abroad without a problem but... sigh.
