Financial Aid News!

Just wanted 2 tell u all that they are starting 2 distribute financial aid packages. Yesterday was the first batch, so instate students, u will get urs early next week. =]

I got mine! 2 Scholarships yay…but shi*** aid :stuck_out_tongue:
Ahhhh well.

how much did they offer u?

Unsubsidized Stafford Loan for $5,500.00. LOL

haha wow…suks for u Xcellarator :(

Xcellerator,

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your EFC?

You’ll find that most people will only be offered loans. So good luck to all of you.

Better than mine, I will only get $1500 in unsubsidized stafford loans. :(

Lol. Don’t really care about aid as I can pay for A&M.
Looking forward to transfer to UT after a year.

Orsche - about 18-19k

Oh Xcellerator :/

I was really hyped about UT also, but according to my cousin: “Once you spend a year @ A&M, you’ll definitely want to stay”

We’ll see what you do! :D

I know a guy who spent some time at UT, he ended up finding out their were too many hippies and the place was too liberal, so we transfered to A&M and said it was a fit. Guess it all depends on the person.

Should have went to UTSA high school then. There you can easily get a 4.0 and transfer automatically into UT after a year. Good luck trying the same with A&M (let alone letting go of this school after a year).

I’m still thinking about it. Haven’t even accepted A&M’s offer of admission.
A&M will be filled with UT rejects from my school! xD

If you are so skeptical of attending A&M, why even consider it? There are plenty of institutions in this state other than UT and A&M that can give you the opportunity to be successful.

I don’t think 50-100 (if that) out of ~10,000 students in next year’s freshman class is “filled with”. That’s .5 to 1%. However, the 60% of students A&M is accepting because of the top 10% rule, and whom also got in to Texas if applied, have “filled” up the majority of the Class of 2013.

btw gstein, A&M’s freshman class is ~ 8000 students.

Oh yeah, I’d just like to add I’m a UT reject, but in a sense I am glad I am attending A&M. I visited both places, A&M seems much nicer, and the environment @ UT is reallllllly hectic.

season football pass! Anyways, adhering to the topic, a lot of my friends have also received their financial aid news, so expect it within this week!

^^ well said, gstein!

Because I would work my ass off to get a good GPA at other schools. I figured, “Heck, might as well work hard at A&M since it’s the most prestigious that I’ve been accepted to (other than UWisc) and then transfer.”

Well, it would be like high school all over for me again at least. I’d probably say around 100 from my high school will attend (there are a LOT of Aggies rather than Longhorns here). They would much rather go to A&M than UT.

I’ve visited both places too, user3725. A&M is very friendly. UT isn’t quite as friendly. Their environments are totally different…

A&M won’t be such a bad football team this upcoming year I hope. Christine Michael, the 5-star RB from Beaumont should be beast. Jerrod Johnson should learn from his sub-par starts last year.

Yeah, wow. I looked it up and 8100 (out of 26,000). That’s just crazy.

Whatever you think’ll work best. Personally I see no reason what-so-ever to transfer out of programs such as A&M or UW-Madison, both are great schools and will show you great times as a student. I guess if you’re looking for a top-caliber football team such as TU’s, or are just obsessed with the school, then sure transfer. But like I said, in admissions TU isn’t going to look up upon you because you went to more prestigious schools such as A&M or UW instead of schools like UTSA, UTA, or UTD (even though UTD is well-respected). And once again, a 3.5+ is much more hard to attain at A&M and UW. Good luck in whatever you pursue.
