Does anyone know when the Stonehill is going to start mailing the financial aid packets?

Incoming freshmen receive a letter containing information about their award by April 1, according to their site. They told me third week of March when I called.

thank you!

I already got 2 copies of mine

Do you mean your merit award Stonehill14 or your whole financial aid packet. I think that is what Jen2112 meant.

Jen2112, I noticed you were also on the Syracuse threads. Which one is your favorite?

No I got the whole thing. I recorved my merit scholarship with my acceptance but got the whole financal aid package aswell. It just added a loan to my scholarship

Was that long ago Stonehilll14? My daughters applied EA and so far only have the original merit that came with the acceptance. I’m sorry they just added a loan, I’m expecting not much more myself unfortunately.

sleepy1, I honestly don’t really know yet. I can’t really decide if I want to go to a small school like Stonehill or a midsize school like SU. Syracuse is definitely a more well known school, but I don’t want to make my decision solely on that reason.

and of course i still need to wait until Stonehill sends me my financial aid packet…

Do you know anything about Syracuse?

Yes, actually I am a alum. My daughter has applied to SU and Stonehill among others. SU has some really outstanding programs particularly in Architecture and of course, Newhouse. The weather is as bad as people say and that is one of the reasons why everyone in the whole city supports the basketball team (besides the fact that they are nearly always in contention) Greek life is very, very big there. Unless things have changed a great deal, most of the students came from New York and New Jersey. Stonehill will be a much different experience. More personal I would think, smaller classes, closer knit student body and much more a New England/Boston Vibe.

What is your major?

Right now I’m tentatively planning to double major in sociology and some branch of business.

I’m kind of worried about the party school reputation that SU has, though. Which I’m guessing you know already considering I posted about it on the SU board.

If the financial aid works out, I think SU & Stonehill are my two top choices. I just don’t want to make the wrong decision b/c obviously it’s a big one, and I also don’t live anywhere near the two schools. I hear that Stonehill has a New England vibe, but I frankly don’t really know what that entails. I’m from the midwest.

That is interesting. What state in the midwest are you from? We are from Connecticut and even we noticed the Boston accents at Stonehill. Lots of Red Sox fans :)

My daughter is concerned a bit about the party school reputation but it does seem to be a characteristic of many schools and not something you can avoid entirely.

Have you visited both?

i got my letter february 8th.

sleepy1, I’m from Ohio.

I haven’t visited yet since it’s a long way from home. But I’m planning on visiting SU early April. Not sure about Stonehill yet.

Has anyone received their financial aid packages? Or spoken recently to anyone in financial aid?

I did call this morning and the nice lady on the phone financial aid packet for incoming freshmen will go out the first of next week

Thank you, saved me a call. : )

I thought we received the FA packet today but it was just a large pamphlet on financial aid. Why couldn’t that all come with the actual award? It was also said to look for your personal award letter in 2 to 4 weeks. I hope it’s not that long!

My D got the same letter last week. Upon closer inspection we noted the letter was dated March 5th even though it didn’t arrive until much later.
A response to an email we sent indicated the information should be arriving next week.

Did anybody get their packet today? The real thing I mean.
