So, when do we know how much aid we get?

I would imagine that financial information would come in the mailed letter. That’s probably in a couple of days. That might be Saturday for some. Judging by your name, if you are an international student, it might take the letter a little longer to come? This is all my guesswork, but I hope it’s soon. Congrats on being accepted!

Thanks for the info! I’ll try to contact the financial aid Office aswell!

the need-based financial aid came with the big folder, but does anybody know anything about merit scholarships? I was expecting one from the bienen school of music (i’m doing a dual degree) but there’s no word on whether I get one or not.

i’m almost positive that NU doesn’t offer any merit scholarships… how dismal :/

caitl294, you received the need based aid with your acceptance? I’m in NY, just got the acceptance letter but no aid info inside and no info on CAESAR yet

I’m in the same boat kandlees. I bet the financial aid awards will be out soon. I might email them and ask for an approximate date. If I do, I’ll let you know what they say.

I’ve been accepted to both the bienen school of music and the mccormick school of engineering, and I know that Bienen offers a few merit scholarships; in fact the teacher that I applied for spoke to me about scholarships in November, when I had a lesson with her, so I was a bit surprised that I received no word about it. Of course I know I am not guaranteed a scholarship, but i would have liked to receive some sort of confirmation.

kandlees and directall, I did actually receive a need-based financial aid letter with my folder today. I am an international student from Canada, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. My need-based aid application is complete, as confirmed on Caesar, and I received behind the acceptance letter in the folder informing me that I am not getting any aid. However, when I log onto Caesar and click on my financial aid, it says that it is unavailable. So I’m keeping my hopes up…

Ok, thanks! I saw someone else had received a financial aid award with their letter. Maybe it’s based on when you turned the forms in? I had to turn mine in the day before the deadline because the IRS hadn’t finalized the tax code. It shows that I’ve turned everything in on CAESAR, and my status is also unavailable. It’s time to play the waiting game again…

According to NU’s financial aid website ([Undergraduate Financial Aid - Northwestern University](http://ug-finaid.northwestern.edu/)), awards will be viewable on CAESAR beginning on March 31st. I received my acceptance letter in the mail today, but there was no financial info included. Maybe only internationals receive it with the letter? I’m also a dual degree student and am hoping for some merit money from Bienen, but I’m doubtful I’ll get any.

allegrovivace, could you let me know if you hear anything about merit? Also, what instrument do you play? :D

Certainly! Please let me know if you hear anything as well. I’m a pianist, so I know how competitive it will be for scholarships on my instrument. It probably won’t help that my audition was far from my best, but hey - here’s to hoping!

I will certainly post it if I hear anything as well! I’m a violinist and the competition is harsh as well! We can both hope!

Are there any current students or parents hanging around? What can we expect? Are they generous with the demonstrated need money? we got very similar offers from wellesley, Mac and Bowdoin- on pins and needles to see if NU will be close. anyone?
