I recently spoke with my financial aid office for additional aid and was told to fill out a parent plus loan with my mother. It was denied, but i was told by the financial aid rep that i spoke with that i would be able to get 4000 in additional aid because of the denial. Now when i ask when that amount will add onto my aid the financial aid reps tell me they don't know what i am talking about and giving me other options of payment even though all i need is the 4000 that i am suppose to get. Any suggestions?

Take out a private loan.
Get a job.
Take a semester off to save up.
Go to the financial aid office, speak with them again, and get anything they say about 4000 dollars in writing and email to you.

Post your question in the Financial Aid section here on CC.

Yes, the 4000 will add onto your aid.

Denial of a parent plus loan makes you eligible for an additional direct loan. I believe the amount is $4,000, but I am not positive about that. That is probably what the FA rep was referring to, but you should check with them.

Insist on speaking to the Director of FA. He/she will know about the $4000.
