Financial aid question... Its complicated!

Im 19 years old.
I graduated High school in the philippines last year. (2010)
Im going to college right now at a CC.
I have 7 credits so far.
My dad is really old and very forgetful, but he was the one incharge of paying bills and doing taxes.
Now, he cant remember whether he did his taxes last year and he cant remember how to do the taxes now.
Im really not good at things like this, but I'm trying to understand it.
If i can't find the proof that he did taxes last year, all i can find is the hand writen one he did.
My dad is a retired marine and we live off of what comes ever month.
My mom is unemployed and I've been trying to find a job, but I havent been having any luck with my inexperienced work history.

So my question is... Is there any financial aid that I can get or something? I really want to finish college...

If your father filed his taxes last year, he can get a copy of them from the IRS and from the state he lives in (if he is now living in the US). Here is a link to the instructions at the IRS website: [Tax Topics - Topic 156 Copy of Your Tax Return – How to Get One](Topic No. 156, How to Get a Transcript or Copy of Your Tax Return | Internal Revenue Service)

If your father has all of his tax records, you can help him file this year’s tax return. All of the information that you need is at the IRS website [Internal Revenue Service](http://www.irs.gov/). There is a link about half-way down on the left-hand side of that page that will lead to information on e-filing. That might be the easiest way for your father to file his taxes.

Once he has filed his taxes, you can help him complete the FAFSA. The financial aid office at your CC can help you get a paper form if it is too confusing for the two of you to do online, but most people find it pretty simple once they have their federal taxes done.

Good luck with everything!

Go to your local IRS office, with your father. They will have the information you are seeking. If you Dad is forgetful, perhaps putting Mom in charge of this stuff would be better for all of you.
