If a child is accepted to a boarding school and applied for financial aid, is the financial aid award (if applicable) given on the same day on the admission portal as well? My son was accepted to a day school that has a March 8 deadline for enrollment. We applied to 3 boarding schools and as you all know, decisions are on March 9 & 10. The day school has extended the deadline to March 11, however, for us, if he’s accepted to a boarding school, financial aid is a big part of where he ends up. If he’s accepted, I’d like him to know all his options before making a decision.
We’ve had a few schools who told us we would get the FA details a few days after the March 9th deadline. We can’t comment on how this actually works as this is our first time.
My daughter is a day student at a boarding school. When we received decisions they appeared online first and hours later came via mail with the financial awards inside.
Per the history of this board, some FA decisions will come with the admissions decisions, some in a separate package a few days later, but all will arrive well before the BS A10 decision deadline. If your child has applied to a school that has an earlier enrollment decision, you can always contact the BS FA office to explain your predicament. If FA was not given with the admission decision but is on its way, I’m sure they will be happy to help with your predicament.
Thank you for your responses. I spoke to the day school again to ask them for more time. She said several families have called with the same issue and after reconsidering, have extended the deadline until March 18. That’s taken the pressure off somewhat :-).
