I received a financial aid application reminder 1/30. Do all applicants received this or is it a good sign?
It literally says in the letter
So, what do you think?
PS - for need blind schools like UVa, the financial aid office is completely separate from the admissions office
I would be very annoyed if I was rejected and I received this email though…
@bsalum, my assumption would be that if you were rejected, you were taken off their mailing list…
By all applicants, they mean those in their mailing list (EA Acceptances, EA Deferrals, and RD Applications)
Please remember: Financial Aid and Admissions have NOTHING to do with each other - so a message from the financial aid office means nothing about your chances if you haven’t already been accepted EA. The Financial aid filing deadline is March 1st - period. No exceptions, no extensions. So, if you received an EA Rejection, then you obviously will have no need to file for financial aid. But if you received an EA Acceptance, then you need to file financial aid prior to March 1 - whether you’ve made your decision to enroll or not. And, if you were Deferred EA or you are just an RD Applicant, then you will also need to file financial aid PRIOR to knowing whether or not you’ve been accepted to the University. Don’t put this off - you only have 26 more days, and you don’t want to wait till the end because there is a LOT to do (income tax filing, FAFSA filing, forms to fill out, forms to fax, etc.).
I want to second what grp2013 is saying about not putting off filing for financial aid. File early even and it’s not hard to do seeing as the FAFSA takes estimates. So even if you’re not done with your taxes yet, file the fafsa. After your taxes are filed, go back and import your totals from your filed return (fafsa has a tool that does this). Fafsa will send the updated form to all the schools listed on your fafsa.
