U.Va. Financial Aid Deadline March 1 Email for Parents

Did other accepted students' parents get this email as well? I was planning to surprise my Dad with my acceptance for this birthday this weekend but U.Va. emailed him instead (haha!)

It was sent to parents and applicants…since many applicants aren’t opening their emails these days. Student Financial Services has become very strict about this deadline. If you file after it, they won’t review the documents. Aid is so important that we felt it was best to send the email to both groups.

Yes, it is critically important to start collecting the needed information early, in order to have everything done on time. They have granted extensions if a parent literally drops dead in February, but otherwise, it is essential to get the paperwork in on time.

I am guessing this email went out to all applicants/parents, right? And not just to accepted applicants/parents…?

Accepted and deferred, as mentioned in the Dean’s blog.

The email was sent to students and parents if the student is an:
EA offer
EA defer
RD applicant

These are the three groups that would want to apply for aid. Obviously, the EA defers and RD applicants won’t know their admission decisions until after the aid deadline.

SFS started enforcing their deadline about a year ago. Those who waited to file in the past always took a gamble (once funds are distributed, they’re gone), but now SFS is saying they won’t package if you haven’t submitted everything on time.
