Financial Aid Suspension Appeal letter

Hi everybody,
I have been suspended from my financial aid, so here is a letter, I really need your point of view and comments thanks.

I am writing this letter as you are my last resort to reconsider the decision of suspending my Financial Aid. My previous requests have been denied by both the Financial Aid Committee and the Financial Aid Internal Review (FAIR) Committee as “They feel they are at their limit of discretion without being in violation of federal regulations”.

I certainly understand the requirement of being compliant with the Satisfactory Academic Progress and the impact that a lack of compliance has on the Financial Aid.

I should admit that my situation is quite unusual as I came in the United States with my parents and my siblings in February 2011 from my native country, France.

You certainly realize that I had to overcome different challenges than my peers, but I managed to have a successful adjustment in high school, being even named “Rotary Student of the Month” for my outstanding achievement and my leadership qualities.

My ultimate goal in life is to be an Obstetrician - Gynecologist and I chose Georgia College and State University as I knew the Faculty and the staff were the more competent to help me achieve my ambition.

My current situation is very difficult as, during my Freshman year, I did not perform at my real intellectual level. I was recovering from a surgery that I had in January 2012 after a traumatic accident during a Basketball game which left me with a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament and a torn meniscus.

I took the responsibility to become Student Manager of the Women’s Basketball Team to help me cope, but the psychological and physical pain, along with uncommon side effects from the anesthesia were certainly detrimental to my ability to perform.

I did not seek help and did not want to worry my parents as they were already in a very difficult financial situation - my mother having lost her job that was the only source of income for our family.

Sincerely

Enclosed documents: - Private Student loan decision letter

Having to face the eventuality of dropping out of college - as without the Federal Financial Aid I will not be able to afford studying - is a nightmare and I cannot accept to see my ambitions vanish in that way.

I have already set an academic plan for my upcoming Sophomore year with my advisor and to prove my commitment I am currently taking an online course in “Introduction to Physics” through *************. I am here asking for your leniency and your help in your quality of Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management to allow me to continue my education by reinstating my Financial Aid.

Sincerely,
