I'm wondering whether or not applying for financial aid will decrease you chances of getting into a school like Andover?

I think it doesn't matter that much at Andover, since they have a huge endowement (sp)

I dont think so.. (although that was one of the reasons I didn't apply for FA) but ..I think that was a dumb mistake, cuz apparently, some schools mail their acceptance letters first, and then like 3 days later mail another letter about FA..(and some ppl get accepted and dont get FA)

Oh ok. Thanks al612 and wiseman222.

Well, looks like I'll have to be patient with the decision though.

Well, I applied for FA for ADCH, and so far I only know that I got some FA at H and I know that I got in C, but idk about FA yet...so I'll tell you when I find out if the awards vary a lot

Hey, I got into A and D as well...they gave me the most money out of all the schools I applied to

I don't think requesting financial aid matters. We didn't get any from all 3 schools that I applied to, but still got into all the schools. They leave it to you to decide whether you think you can afford to go with what they do or do not offer.

I think it depends on the school. Two schools told us that it was more competetive for kids applying for fa.

I think a lot of the big schools are need blind now. You are not necessarily put into a different pool and certainly can be admitted. However, once your app. goes to the fa office, you may or may not get the aid you need. Hence, people being admitted without fa.

exeter and andover are "need-blind" but for most schools, it is usually harder to get in if you need financial aid

I believe SPS and Deerfield are need-blind as well, and I guess NMH is because they know accept people before the app. is seen by the fa office.
