Has anyone received notification of Financial Aid Awards? I received a letter from the English Department, it was obviously a form, but it was still nice. Any ideas when the FinAid envelopes will be mailed out?

My son has not heard anything yet either. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

My daughter has already been informed of her academic scholarship amount, but not the name of the specific scholarship awarded to her.

But we have not yet heard anything on need-based money.

Financial Aid letters were mailed on Friday.

They probably didn't all go out on Friday since we are in Cincinnati (just 30 miles from Oxford) and have not received anything yet.

I was just at the campus on Monday and they said they were mailed out that day. March 27th. And my son received his today.

Oh, I was told to tell people at the open house that the letters were sent Friday. Maybe there were a few batches of letters.

S received his finaid package in the mail today.

I received mine yesterday.

Is anyone happy with the aid they received???

I was quite surprised at the modest scholarship amount, i.e. I expected a lot more. But I know of one person who was awarded the Harrison, so I know the money is being awarded to others.

I think it's a very ambiguous system...with the "rebates" they offer to Ohio residents. I'm am also surprised that they put the full cost of attendance at $36K...more than OOO for UVA for instance. My S actually got a good package, but the "additional educational expenses" of $5K plus is not really defined. Does anyone know what that includes besides books? Does it include travel, computer, student fees, etc.?

I was surprised by the aid I received, although to their credit it was the "minimum" I was supposed to receive, so technically they "met my need". I am grateful that I received more aid from a school higher on my list, so this wasn't a big disappointment! I hope that the people who have chosen Miami as their first choice receive the aid that they need. The fancy folder was a bit much....I thought the large envelope in my mailbox today was good news from a big reach school....but that's okay.

I got great financial aid- my EFC is 3800ish but I'm only paying 3000 a year to go there. with only 2000 a year in loans. I was suprised how inexpensive they've become for me. It's not my first choice, but it is my second.

Fancy folder? Why didn't I get something like this? All I got today was some letter detailing my various scholarships that they have been giving me over the year (total 18,080/yr in state).

Our EFC was $1950. And we have a gap over $12,000 That just seems so unreal to me. I don't know what I am going to do. I can't afford this as a single parent and even if my son and I both get part time jobs this will not make a difference. The only thing is that I had to correct the FAFSA and when I called the college they said that they used the first one. I don't think that is going to make that much of a difference. first EFC was $2080 corrected one $1950, But I am hoping it will maybe more grant money. The award letter also stated that his application was selected for review for verification. They said that they would be sending the letters stating what we need to send them Friday. Maybe this will give us more also. I am praying I am jsut sick over this.

5ky- i don't know why yours didn't come in a big folder, maybe because you're in-state? the folder had a sheet stating my aid, forms about accepting the loan, and some information sheets. they should spend the money on aid instead of a few bucks on folders and higher mailing prices!

I got a "fancy folder" with lots of unexpected scholarship money in it. I didn't even know 2 of the things existed and 1 isn't listed on the site...I guess I'm supposed to get more info on that one later, but then the next week I got a revised award with more money from my specific department. I had specifically mentioned to the department that I was interested in scholarships because I received so much at my other top choice school, so maybe that was taken into consideration? I'm not sure, but I think maybe MU is just kind of weird about scholarships because I didn't think there were many when I applied and with everyone I ever talk to about MU, the first thing they say is "Oh it's a GREAT school!...but it's SOO expensive." and it won't be because of the money I got...so I'm not sure how they do it, lol.

Smoke, mirrors and alumni contributions...lol

i didnt get any thing other then a $2000 subsidized loan. Any suggestion as to where to look for more aide
