Financial Aid

What are some universities that usually give a good amount of aid to international students?

Not a whole lot. Those that do, are extremely competitive and you have to be the best student in your country to even get a look.
You need to have the stats and EC’s to back up any offers of aid.

It looks like you hope to do premed and anything that will employ you. Med schools don’t typically admit international students.

For this, you would need to check in your country since we wouldn’t know your post graduation potential in your country. As an international student, after you graduate, you are expected to return to your country. The US cannot be expected to provide a job for you.

Look at the universities Financial aid pages and see what the schools offer.

In addition to the above, what is your budget?

Auntbea is right that it is very tough to be admitted to a US med school as an international student…some med schools won’t even accept apps from internationals.

The info that @wayoutwestmom gave you on the other thread is not necessarily applicable because you are an international student. She can probably give you some more info…

Internationals are severely disadvantaged in applying to US medical schools.

Only 124 internationals (in total) matriculated into all US medical schools combined. 75-80% of those 124 were Canadian citizens.

Internationals must prove they can fund 100% of the cost of US medical education before they are allowed to enroll. (Expect to be asked to deposit between $250K to $500K into a US bank before matriculation.)

There is little to no financial aid for internationals. Internationals are not eligible for US government sponsored loans (which is how US med student pay for their education).

Honestly, if you want to practice medicine in the US as a physician, studying medicine in your home country and applying for a US medical residency is a simpler, faster and more cost effective path.
