financial aid

Scholarship would help you pay... but they won't give you any grants/loans/schoalarships if your EFC is close to the cost of UW.

interestin...i ll probably apply for some "outside" scholarships even though I'm pretty sure fin aid is gnna cover most of the stuff (hopefully).

interestin...i ll probably apply for some "outside" scholarships even though I'm pretty sure fin aid is gnna cover most of the stuff (hopefully). I just sent them my I-94's so they ll probably tell me how much they ll support my arse soon.

So what happens if your parents have bad credit? Do they just convert parent loans to student loans?

I got my "award" today. a full $23,213 in LOANS! Woohoo! thumbs down I'm not going to UW. Goodbye everyone and nice talking to you on this board!

Are you out-of-state too ecner? Because my joke of an award is almost as bad as yours. I got $100 of some kind of "Federal Assistance" (which only works out to some $33/$34 each quarter - Fall, Winter, Spring and not Summer... completely worthless if you ask me), $3000 in Work Study, a couple thousand through my Pell Grant, and the rest in loans. That's absolutely RIDICULOUS. I looked closer and it seems like there are virtually no scholarships for people who aren't Washington residents. What the hell!? ****es me off.

Hey, at least you got work study. I got mine and it was just only two awards - a loan AND a loan. Yes, I'm from Alabama.

How much should I be expecting with an EFC of 01731?

you should be getting substantial aid, you should be getting state need grant and pell grant for sure.

Man this sucks.

I didn't get any FA from UW.

My parents are really worried and a little aggravated that they will be paying more for me than for my brother who goes to Dartmouth and his tuition and room is A LOT higher than UW.

Anything I can do?

My EFC was about $24,000. I just got my financial aid letter from the UW, and they offered me a loan and a loan, too. My Dad wants to call them up and appeal this (because he's rather stingy and all for me getting financial aid if I can), but I think he's delusional. He makes 6 figures, and if all these other people whose parents make so much less than mine are barely getting a thing, I doubt I will.
It sucks.

Yeah, 6 figures is a lot.

I figured they would give me some money since my brother is also in college.

fin aid doesnt come up with the numbers randomly...if you didnt get any aid then it's very likely that you're living off well...i must say it's good too be poor =P
