Financial aid

I just received my financial aid from BC and they gave me a couple thousand short of cover all but my FAFSA EFC.

Should i try and apeal this and attempt to get more aid, is it worth it?
is there any chance they will give me more aid because i really want to go to BC and as of now the difference might be to much for me and my family.

Go for it. They are not going to reject you or withdraw you admittance.

By the way, do you mind telling me your EFC. The reason I ask is because my EFC is approiximately 35,500, and if I don't get most to all of that covered, and with additional scholarships get it down to about 30k, I am not going.

are you a transfer?

my efc was about 27k and they covered all but about 29k, the financial aid i received was mostly scholarship money. thanks for the advice bosoxnm3

no i am not a transfer, i am a freshman applicant accepted under early action

you must have filed your fafsa mad early then. we're just starting ours. how'd you do it without your tax returns?

you can base it off of your 2007 forms(if there are not any major changes) and then submit your 2008 information later

if i want to appeal my financial aid should i call or write a letter?

well it doesnt seem like that much, you could gasp take out some loans or hold a part time job! Oh no god forbid! 29k is not that much debt to graduate with. I know I'll be graduating with a lot more most likley as my parents arent giving me ****.

the saddest part is is that BC's inability to give students the aid they need actually prevents students from going there. I know that me going there depends solely on how much aid they give me, and how much i can get in loans. This economic crisis has really impacted my family's financial status (father is a realtor).

miktau 29 * 4 = 116
and my parents are not planning on paying much of that at all
probably 1/5 of the total cost :(

but yeah it could be a lot worse

I still haven't gotten mine... when do I panic?

did you check online(agora)? try that, then just call student services but don't panic yet

well anyway should i appeal and if so call or write?
thanks

i haven't gotten mine yet either. but i havent submitted the fafsa yet.

When I check Agora, I only get:

If you have not previously submitted your non-refundable Enrollment Confirmation and Housing Guarantee fees, please click here to do so.

If you would like to withdraw your admission, please submit the Admission Withdrawal Form.

If you would like to postpone your enrollment, please submit the Admission Deferment Request.

I lied. Figured it out.

And I got nothing. Aweeesome.

aw man, that sucks. Is BC your first choice?

One of 'em. Is calling and appealing at all advised?

that really sucks

here is the appeal in formation

Financial Aid Appeals - Student Services - Boston College

i would agree the appeal process at BC does not look to hopeful
but what is the worst that can happen, they just say no
