Financial Aid?

@plumazul

They have a pipe organ? Sweet! haha

Hope everything works out for you financially…

Thanks a lot for the replies. I tried to sign in with the SSN, WU ID, or both, all with the same result. Maybe they haven’t posted everyone’s information yet. I would assume that even if aid weren’t awarded, WashU would still clearly say so, rather than give you an open-ended answer…

My daughter got just loans and work study. My D is a NMF so $2K if she goes there, but she won’t be going there with that type of aid. I would not say that is generous. Let’s hope Notre Dame has a better package than that.

I just DECLINED my package including the ELIOT SCHOLARSHIP. I hope this means they will reallocate it to someone else, … maybe one of you guys …

Just received the financial aid letter today in the mail. We got a big fat $0 - since we are FAR from rich, it looks like Wash U will have to be crossed off D’s list. Too bad :(

I didn’t get any aid. I can’t afford it unless they reconsider. I though they were generous :(

If you sign in on WashU’s financial website, do you get a message that clearly states you got $0 in aid, or do you see the “As of March 14th you had no financial assistance award” instead? Thanks.

TomisMom, I am not home now to check on D’s portal - we did get a letter in the mail today. I’ll check later for you, but you will probably receive your letter tomorrow.

@TomisMom

I called in to check this morning because I had the same message. Later got the answer in the mail as well:

I am a Ervin finalist. Finalists of all scholarships do not get an award until after WashU announces the scholars after the finalist weekend (they normally announce a week after). So we won’t get our award letters until sometime second week of April.

Hope that helps!

Thanks and don’t worry about it if it’s too much trouble. We live on the West Coast, so it may take a few days to get the letter, but we’ll live :-)

Thanks, Crozet. Our posts just crossed paths in cyber space…

@plumazul

I got the Eliot Scholarship too!

I wasn’t expecting anything but got a $5,000 Honorary Dean’s scholarship. In addition to the Entrepreneurial Scholars one, that makes $8,000!

I got 58,000!!! OMG im in shock.

I’m worried. They were “sort of” generous with D2 (who is also an Entrepreneurial Scholar) but the rest of the package is referred to as both merit and financial aid (plus loans and work-study).

If they said, “10K renewable for 4 years with satisfactory progress”, I would feel better. Instead, I wonder if the merit/financial grant part will shrink in the next years as they lure new students.

Anyone have any experience with this? It’s just not as reassuringly stated as all the other merit offers we’ve received.

I checked the portal and it said I received only $2k, and that’s in work loans. Is it possible that they haven’t finished completely putting everything up? I didn’t receive anything in the mail. Also, is it possible to to negotiate with Wash U or not?

so i go 58k, but the package said tuition, fees, room and board are only 53k. what does this mean?

I got $0 in all aid. I’m going to Multicultural weekend, but after that, it’s goodbye Washu. I’ve been so mad at my family that I can’t go here, and I know that it’s not their fault… but, ugh… I’m still a selfish 17 year old, and I’m getting hit hard this time. It’s the top school that I applied to.

They could’ve at least pay for part of my tuition than my trip. pfft.

^I know exactly how you feel. Wash U was very high up but I just can’t afford it unless they will negotiate a little.

No need, but $10,000 merit :slight_smile: plus $2,500 NMF so $12,500 total
