This is what I found on the UNC portal: The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid will begin notifying admitted students of their financial aid status beginning in late March and continuing throughout the month of April.

^ But they are running behind because of the system upgrade they did.

anyone else STILL hear nothing?!!

me. unc is pretty much out of the runnings now though. so it doesnt rlly matter

I heard about last week, but it wasn’t much financial aid. Still going, though, because it’s still the least expensive school. (Other than my state school, which isn’t as good.)

We have had the most unbelievable experience with FA. My daughter was accepted Fri. eve. 5 pm as a transfer student. By 12:30 a.m. she had an email indicating her financial aid was ready — and was it ever generous – way beyond what we were expecting. I’m sorry for the frustration out there, but it doesn’t reflect what we’ve experienced.

In D’s welcome packet it did stress that FA would move quickly and meet all demonstrated need if all info were in on time.

Torn between - still nothing here. All forms were in by the end of January and my daughter was admitted EA.

Flinty, I’m sorry to hear that.

Thanks, Harvardgator – sounds as if we have had two opposite extremes of experiences. But at least the generosity of your daughter’s award squelches my suspicion that because we needed a lot of aid, maybe the office was letting my daughter dangle in the hope that she would lose interest! (I didn’t really think that, but it did occur to me.) We’re out of state, so I don’t know if that is affecting the time it takes or what, but I don’t understand why some kids got their aid long ago and some are still waiting.

Flinty, hope this helps: we’re OOS, too. But I know it doesn’t help with the delay part…

that’s great, harvardgator. but it’s just confusing to some of us who were admitted back in January. It’s really unfair, when I called yesterday they said they will try to have everything done by May 1st, how am I supposed to make my decision that way? I want to go to UNC but its frustrating.

Finally an answer on portal this morning. No aid but small loan. We were really not expecting anything as we have a high EFC but thought we would wait to see before making a final decision.

I hope those still waiting get a response soon.

thank you ncdancemom…still waiting…freaking out down here in florida

Check your emails – tonight my daughter got an email from UNC asking her if she was still considering UNC and whether she would like admissions to contact financial aid on her behalf. So they must be trying to do the packages for those who are really waiting on them. Yay!!

So, I am seriously confused. I got admitted EA, so back in January, and it is now approaching the end of April with commitment deadlines nearing, and still no FA notification. I can’t even click on the aid year on my MyUNC account anymore (the link is gone.) I did get that email from admissions on Monday, though, so hopefully I should hear something soon.

But hey, at least I’m not alone, and many others are sharing this situation.

Forodio, I am the exact same, I can’t click on the year. i didn’t realize you had to complete that survey, so I did say contact the FA office for me when I filled it out a few horus ago. I also responded to the email in the first place. My mom called yesterday and said they will do their best to have it between now and May 1st for everyone! I can’t wait till May 1st =[ I am sure you are just as worried as I am.

D just got hers yesterday…only unsub. loans…didn’t really expect anything, but was hoping for possible workstudy. I guess we have to use her college fund for college and not buy a boat :)

Flinty: excellent news on the progress. I hope it works out well for ya’ll (inside joke).

NCKay in same situation…no new boat either.

HG: I thought you looked familiar! Thanks for the backup earlier. Is that other school in the picture for anyone in your family?
