i literally got nothing. $5000 in loans a year. seriousssly? my mother is widowed and struggles to make ends meet… oh bu. i am gunna call them nonstop

where do you see merit scholarships?

^Should be under ‘Financial Assistance Decision’

if i don’t have that tab that means i got nothing?

WOW. 5500 for an EFC of 24k? Might as well have sent me a rejection…

only 5500… I think I’ll just stay in Cali and attend LMU.

My son also got only 5500 in loans, but did get 10,000 in merit. We were really hoping but not expecting more merit. Unfortunately, having to still pay $ 40,000 a year is a lot of money.
Motion12345 You mentioned getting a hefty merit scholarship, good for you! Would you mind telling me if it was 20,000 or more. I am just wondering as I know BU is not known for giving very much in merit other than the full tuition for the top students.

I got 5.5k in loans too. I had like a 34k EFC. But my parents are near retired age and only one of them works… darn.

I’m really in love with BU and the city… but I think I gotta eliminate it.

Im in the same boat here. I have no idea how, with a 4k EFC, Im supposed to cover ~$50,000 a year with 5k in loans. I was so happy to see the acceptance letter, considering I was rejected from Northeastern, but now I might as well have gotten a rejection.

I got a little over $54,000. my EFC was ~1900

BU might as well have sent me a rejection letter with the financial aid I got.
$7,650 with an EFC of 3000.
There’s no way I can attend BU…

I feel the same way. i was hoping so much for BU and with my stats (30 ACT, 1st in class, among other things and family’s income about 50k). But all i got was gov’t loans. sigh Oh well, fingers crossed for winning the NYU aid lottery.

$55000 fin aid for me (including University Scholar half tuition, loans, grants, etc.). EFC=0

Congrats to al who got the huge money.

My DS def got less than expected and not nearly enough for him to go.

10K merit 8K loans and workstudy.

EFC unfortunately not always an accurate indicator of what you can realiztically afford to send a child to school. Not wort it to have over 100K in loans from undergrad.

i got 17700 in grants and another 5k in loans… does anyone know if there is a bu scholarship for children of alum or something because both my parents went there

My son received a decent grant award over $15K. Does anyone know if this is renewable each year or is it just set for the first year?

@muktowndan, I’m sure it’s renewable as long as your son remains on par for academics (for BU this means a 2.3)

I basically have 20,000 in loans to make up for. I mean my EFC was over 18,000. FAFSA screws middle class families because my AFC (ACTUAL Family Contribution) is no where near this unless my parents decide to give up their cars and house to live in a hut.

But I am grateful because I heard BU was horrible in finaid. I got like 22,000 in grant money. The rest is loans to total finaid package of 33800. Now I know I won’t have to pay exactly 50 grand a year because I’ll get a cheap meal plan and stay in a dingy dorm if I have to. And I’m applying for outside scholarships up to wazoo.

I only got 11,000 and HALF was loans. MY EFC=0

and this is my first choice…how am I supposed to get 40,000??? My parents barely make enough to live.

does bu give you more when you explain/act on it?

I got $45300 total aid which includes 8000 dollars. Not sure if I can pay the remaining 8000 or so dollars, since when converted into Pakistani currency becomes a lot.

I’m in the exact position as you boopbopp. I think we even got the same package: just the pell grant and 2 other loans (which I don’t really consider financial aid anyways). My EFC was also 0. I had pretty decent stats too so I know that’s not what took away from my aid.
