Financial Award Letter released... Mostly loans!

^^^
That said, out of curiosity, is there nothing remotely comparable at any of the schools which have a comparable cost to in-state tuition at UIUC, such as the schools noted above? For example, Business and Computer Science at McGill are highly respected.

You better believe there are programs comparable or better than UIUC , there at many not on that list. I think people just like to make thenselves feel like they are just such great students or their kids, of Course there is no better school then the school they will attend.

I don’t even have an award letter right now. Even though I’ve been living in Illinois for 9 years, UIUC is treating me like an international. So I have no idea where my parents are going to get $45,000 from.
Can you only get these federal loans if the college lists it in the award letter?

:(

^ You should be able to get some in-state money. And if it’s too little, you can always request for some more. I would suggest making an in-person interview to make them more lenient towards giving you more money.

I think some people have a chip on their shoulder regarding schools where their son was not accepted. I hope your son is happy at Purdue, Cookie, and it’s still in the running as far as my son is concerned too, but I’ve noticed a little bias showing against UIUC on your part. While I can understand your being upset about the rejection, you need to move on and quit sniping.

Nothing4me:
How do I go about getting that in-state money?
We’re probably heading down to UIUC next week and hopefully we’ll get some answers from the counselors. We’ve been calling them, but every time it seems that they just can’t help us!

i go to uic right now and transferring to uiuc and did my fafsa early march. i havnt heard back from either of them yet though…
