I was surprised that my son’s Financial Award Statement from Riverside was out already today. Very pleasantly surprised, they were very generous. We are very happy to have that piece of the puzzle early to help make decisions.
We received an email that the statement was ready to view on Growl.
I got mine today as well. Thrilled with $ as they were far more generous than I would have thought.
@Katecat27: Does your FA package make it possible to attend? Congratulations and best of luck.
@Gumbymom
If I get confirmation form the U that the grant is renewable and I can expect a similar amount every year, yes! I’m so excited! If everything works out financial aid wise it would barely cost more than living at home and attending CSUF! They were far more generous with grant money than I expected. Thank you!
@Katecat27: That is wonderful news.
@Gumbymom
Yes! I’m planning to call on Monday to confirm that the grant $ is renewable and then hopefully start celebrating
I got mine yesterday and I’m not surprised that my award statement states my tuition is so pricey. But I expected it since I’m a nonresident. :-<
But I’m glad to hear they’ve been generous this year!
Also very pleasantly surprised!!! Logged in today, expecting the usual loans, but saw that they had given us $15K in gift aid!!! We’re in-state, so this will be a super bargain.
I got about 19k in gift aid. Was honestly amazed that I got that much.
@umberial @Collgbrwsr @Katecat27 @calmom 2016 Sorry for the personal question but those who received 10K+ in gift aid, what is your income bracket?
Do you think the gift aid is based on merit?
UC’s give little merit aid. UCR will give the Regents/Chancellor’s and Highlander excellence scholarships for merit. The gift aid is usually for low income students but I could be wrong.
Yah I got the Chancellor’s but that alone would probably not convince me to attend.
Poor, lol. xD Local and poor. @Andrew545
@Andrew545. My younger son got the Chancellor’s scholarship also but we are full pay so it wasn’t deciding factor. He opted for his other top school which was less expensive than UCR without any scholarship. If you are in a position that FA is not vital to your decision, then there is no reason to accept if you are positive UCR is not a good fit.
@Andrew545 I think it is very much based on need with merit adding more scholarships.
We are over 100k, but still got gift aid. Gumbymom, where did your two sons go, and were they happy with their choices?
@umberial @gumbymom Okay thanks !
@Collgbrwsr wow that’s good I’d seriously consider attending if I got $15k a year. Is it renewable and what are your kid’s stats?
Has anyone else not received this info yet? Did everyone that received aid info get an email saying to check?
@Andrew545
I got $13k in grants
A bit over 100k
I also received the regents scholarship
I had a ~4.5 gpa and 2170 SATs with 6 AP classes
I’m calling tomorrow to verify the grants are renewable. If so, I’ll likely be a highlander:)
@kate27 Wow that would be pretty much a fully covered tuition and room and board. Thanks for the info I hope I get a comparable grant.
