If you cannot locate it, call Emory on Monday.

I think they are having some tech problems yesterday and today.

yeah nothin up yet...

when i activated my opus account i remember it telling me something about not being able to change from the password they gave you until you got accepted and have a real students opus account

im black. i got acceptance letter at opus. no email.

so is the date for everyone else (non URM) the 28th?

What is URM?

black people, hispanics, indians, native americans, etc.

Everything except whitebread.

It stands for "under-represented minority. "

hilsa, Indians do not quite fall in that category, as they are considered ORM in lots of colleges now :) A lot of Asians

Can anyone confirm the release date for the rest of regular decisions?

^I don't think anyone other than an admissions officer can answer that question...Although I wish I could.

In the past few years, have Emory and Oxford been released on the same day?

Well, ImReachingForIt, many colleges will post decision dates within a few weeks of decision time. Emory is just being lame by being uninformative.

^agreed. But I still love Emory. :)

Aight, so I called the admissions office to get my password but the lady was trying to be all adamant that decisions weren't out till the 1st. She said oxford college accidently released it early but I was just like whatever. It's too bad she wasn't aware of what was going on.

Anyway I ended calling the computer support people, who helped me log in.

Admitted!

Still I'm not sure how high Emory is on my college "list". I would like more info about the Essence of Emory thing though. Emory's racial dynamic is sort of a concern to me. When I visited it felt sort of insulated even though it was in Atlanta, and of course predominately Caucasion.

pgtori- are you a URM?

From the Emory website:

"Self-Identified Racial/Ethnic Statistics:
Caucasian 45%
Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander 31%
Black/African American 9%
Latino, Hispanic 4%
Native American 1%"

I think that Emory is much more diverse than people realize.

Yeah, I am.

Yeah, I read those Stats. Not just that impressed. Not saying that it's horrid or anything. But walking around campus made me slightly dissappointed, especially for a school located in Atlanta, Ga.

In terms of URM these schools, which I also applied to, do better.

MIT
1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
25% Asian/Pacific Islander
9% Black/Non-Hispanic
14% Hispanic
34% White/Non-Hispanic
9% Non-Resident Alien
7% Race/ethnicity unreported

Columbia
1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
17% Asian/Pacific Islander
11% Black/Non-Hispanic
14% Hispanic
36% White/Non-Hispanic
10% Non-Resident Alien
11% Race/ethnicity unreported

University of Chicago
<1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
16% Asian/Pacific Islander
7% Black/Non-Hispanic
12% Hispanic
41% White/Non-Hispanic
9% Non-Resident Alien
15% Race/ethnicity unreported

Brown
1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
17% Asian/Pacific Islander
7% Black/Non-Hispanic
9% Hispanic
40% White/Non-Hispanic
10% Non-Resident Alien
17% Race/ethnicity unreported

Duke - to my surprise is doing slightly better in terms of URM
1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
22% Asian/Pacific Islander
10% Black/Non-Hispanic
6% Hispanic
48% White/Non-Hispanic
7% Non-Resident Alien
6% Race/ethnicity unreported

I'd have to say with Very Selective colleges, Emory's racial diversity is on par with Tufts, Cornell, Princeton & Northwestern. Though admittedly better than both Tufts & Northwestern.

It's the south. You can't expect diversity like New York City.

Emory is definitely trying, though.
