Flying out of syracuse is $200-300 cheaper than flying out of Ithaca. How hard would it be to find any sort of ride up to syracuse on December 18th? (The same day the dorms close.)

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks.

Depends on what time your flight is going to be. You could try Ithaca Airline Limo but they charge ~$110 for round trip. If your flight is not in the morning, you could take a bus from Ithaca to Syracuse ($28 round trip) and somehow go to the airport (taxi?).

S routinely flies out of SYR and uses Ithaca Airline Limo. Their round trip price is steep, but the cost savings to use SYR instead of ITH more than makes up for it. In addition, don’t forget that weather can be a big problem over winter break, and our experience is that weather-related delays in and out of ITH are much more common than SYR. OTOH, last December, snowstorms shut down air traffic in the East and Midwest (for connections) and S’s trip home was delayed by 4 days - an all time record - and even worse, he was stranded at SYR instead of ITH. Luckily he was able to find a low-cost motel near SYR airport to camp out for much of that time.

There is typically a Cornell shuttle service that a lot of people use as well. I believe it is run through student agencies, and they start publicizing it about a month or so out from break if I recall correctly. I think it is about $80 if I am not mistaken.

Awesome. This is just what I was hoping to hear. Thanks everyone.

Isn’t the bus run by student assembly only available for fall/spring break? I could be wrong :)

friends04 - i thought it was still running?

yeah the past few years there has been a student run charter bus that makes a couple trips to syracuse airport and to the amtrak train station in syracuse as well…

very efficient…very affordable.

sometimes the buses will sell out though :(

Haven’t heard about this for a while, so I could be wrong
What I heard is: they are always sold out… :)

u may be right friends…i forget lol

since continental moved to ithaca i was always able to get a flight through them for a reasonable amount :)
