Finding a club sponsor

I'm starting a club at my school this year... if I can find a teacher sponsor, that is. How would you convince a teacher to supervise your club? I'm thinking of writing up an outline, getting a list of interested students' names, and presenting everything to teachers after I get permission from the principal. Would this be enough? And how can I convince potential sponsors that I am willing to do all the work and they just need to be there to watch us, since that's school policy? Thanks so much.

When I started my club, I asked a teacher that I knew really well, that liked me and that knew the subject of the group very well if she would be my sponsor, granted I generated enough interest to form my club.

So I went around school petitioning in order to create my club. I got about 100 names on the sheet and submitted a proposal to the principal. That is how I formed my club.

On the other hand, you can find a pushover teacher that likes you. I did this with my own club, and we have so much freedom to do whatever we want.

I know the kids that started a club at my school didn’t have to find a teacher apperently our principal asked around and found a teacher.

Which grade are people normally in when they start their own clubs?
