Starting a Club... ISSUES

My friend and I are starting a club together at school. We decided this a while ago and since all of my teachers are really busy (advanced program and ish), I asked her if she could find a teacher that she knew to sponsor us. She found one who's really excited to be part of it, and without even telling me she contacted the school board and the principal. In fact, she didn't even mention to me that we had a teacher sponsor. So now, every time I try to talk to the principal/school board rep, they think I'm just trying to take credit for a club that she's starting, even though I contributed the ideas and helped us get in touch with the NGO that we're branching off from. I even wrote the outline that she submitted. I don't know if she's doing this on purpose to be the only founder or what, and I don't really care. I just don't want the principal and school board rep to think I'm lying... "cheating" in a way. What should I do?

Dump her…she shouldn’t have done that to you. That’s not what real friends do.

That’s not really my issue, I don’t even know if she did it on purpose or forgot to tell me.
My problem is convincing the principal and board rep that I am not taking credit for her work, and that I was involved in it too.

Why don’t you ask your friend to tell the principal and board rep that you are working together?

Don’t try talking to the principal or a school board rep; talk to your friend first. Ask her if she can set up a meeting with the school board and you two so you can go over the final details and such. If such a thing could happen, make subtle hints of your involvement. “Let’s go over the outline; I wrote it over two weeks before it was submitted and I think it needs some additions.”

If this is not possible, do not let her out of your sight and ask her constantly to keep you updated about the happenings.

Yeah, I think that’s what I should do. I really don’t think she would do that to me on purpose, it’s just that I hate the way the principal and school board rep just assumed that I was trying to take credit for what I didn’t do. Thanks a lot  I’ll talk to her tomorrow.
