How do I find off-campus accommodation that is a studio but cheap?
Where. What college. What’s your budget?
A lot of colleges have a Facebook page for housing. Start there.
MIT and is $1000 per month possible with that facilities?
Have you tried all the usual places? Campus Facebook housing pages, student housing office, which will know of off campus housing probably, message boards, walking around the neighborhood. Boston is expensive and I suspect it will be hard to find a studio within your budget.
Ahh right, thank you, thank you, I’ll try to do the Facebook pages. Also, I’ve found a web called cirtrus and everything seemed to be at a really good price, is it legit, or it’s a scam?
You will not find a studio for $1000. I suggest finding roommates on Craigslist, or one of those student houses that sometimes come up (often for grad students). Many studios in Cambridge and Boston run over $2000. I think $1750 is probably the cheapest.
When looking for roommates, read the blurb and find a good fit in terms of interaction with others, space, quiet, and location- as well as price.
Thanks
Doesn’t MIT require first year undergraduates to live in on-campus housing?
Yes
My daughter is starting her graduate program in Boston in June, she and her friend are subleasing a 2 bedroom for $1300 each a 20 minute ride on the T to BU. I think you might want to double your budget.
Thanks
Are you entering your freshman year at MIT?
And does your $1000 a month include utilities…heat, electricity, cable?
My kid went to college in Boston and graduated 15 years ago. He was paying close to $1000 a month for a shared three bedroom apartment in 2006-2007.
I seriously doubt you will find a studio apartment for $1000.
