Finding the Happy Middle

So, I'm a rising senior, and I'm havin some issues choosing schools...

I want to do premed, not sure what I'm going to major in yet, but what I do know is that (obviously) your GPA in college is crucial to get into med school. However, how easy or hard it is to get a high GPA depends on the school (a 3.8 in MIT would without a doubt get more respect than a 4.0 at Rutgers). But the thing is, I know that if I were to go to a super good school, my GPA would be lower. I want to find a school that's good enough to be respectable by medical schools, but "bad" enough so that I can get a high GPA/high rank. I guess my question is, should I go to a school on like Rutgers level and get a high 3 or 4.0, a school on like, Lehigh/Bucknell/Colgate level and get a 3.5ish, or a school at Johns Hopkins level and get a lower 3?

Should I go for the "happy middle" or go for one of the extremes (amazing school not good GPA or lousy school with amazing GPA)?

Better to go with the 4.0 at Rutgers than go to MIT and get like a 3.3.

I’d take the 4.0 at Rutgers over a 3.8 at MIT. I think you are underestimating that university’s rigor though personally.

there is no way you can predict/estimate your college GPA. No AP classes or any other HS experience will indicate to you anything in this reagard. What I am saying is that you are wasting your time. Go to school that your heart desires, work hard and get as close as possible to 4.0. It is easier to get higher GPA where you feel personally comfy for any/many reasons.
