We visited FSU yesterday. Since many of the building look the same it was hard to find our way around campus. How long in general did it take for you to get your bearings and not get lost on the FSU campus?

Haha it takes a little time to get used to it, but if you get lost, just look for a pathway and follow it, takes you somewhere, usually :p

When i went on the tour i just noticed the differences between the newer and older buildings to get around. I also centered everything around the landis green it seemed easier that way

i took me about a week but by know, its extremely simple ofcourse ive been here three years

You’ll figure it out after the first week, there are certain central points everyone knows and you work around those.

Landis, The Stadium, Fisher Hall, Suwanee, Fresh Food are some examples

I still get lost sometimes.

Thnaks for the replies. Knowing that it takes about a week will help with calming my daughter’s nerves about finding her way.

The big, colored, nice maps FSU gives out to visitors should have the names of the buildings printed right on the pictures of the buildings and landmarks instead of codes like “B-212” that you have to cross reference on the back of the map–it would make things easier finding your way around campus using the maps.

A couple weeks (or less) and you’re a veteran - assuming you’re walking everywhere. Whatever you do - walk your classes before the first day until you know all the landmarks. In Fall semester on class days the campus is packed with students, faculty and staff and harder to navigate. I suggest going a week early and getting all the details nailed down…before the work really begins.

It is said FSU’s campus is “compact” and that’s right - for a BIG university. :)
