Fine arts major

Hi! I feel like i'm on the wrong forum but I didn't know where to ask about fine arts major so here I am lol.

I want to major in fine arts but I don't know if I should.
I'm super passionate about music- composing and performing. And I have fun with graphic design also.

My parents and peers are telling me to major in music but I do not want to put myself in that world of ' just music'. I will later do business and do fashion stuff. So I'm confused of myself basically. I just started to look up fine arts majors and I do not even know the requirements yet so it's like ugh..

I will be looking at UCs and idk if it's going to be super competitive for me even if it is fine arts major. ( Cuz i heard that it's less competitive than engineering and such).
Please anyone, give me some information! lol.

Also, I compose piano musics and post them on youtube and make money.. Would colleges be interested in that?

Jaen214, Please check out the University of Cincinnati. They have highly ranked programs in both their College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) and in their College Conservatory of Music (CCM). Also their Linder College of Business can help out with some business-oriented electives.

Thank you so much!

A agree that you should look at schools that are big enough and diverse enough to satisfy everything you’re interested in. You will likely need to submit a portfolio or send a sample of your music as part of the application process. Some may want you to come in and perform. Don’t let that discourage you!

I think schools will be interested in your piano composing entrepreneurship and any other musical skills that you have.

Arizona State - Herberger School is amazingly diverse and has a lot of cross-discipline work.

Great! Thanks!!!
