My math professor accused me of cheating because i finished my test faster then an average student.he wants me to go to campus and retake them what should i do and he also gave me an option to not retake them if i don’t want to.
Go to campus. Retake the test. Better yet, take it with the professor personally proctoring your work so that he can see how you handle the problems.
How much more quickly did you finish your test anyway? A math professor surely knows that half of the students will be faster than “average” and half will be slower. For the final test for my pre-GED students, one finished in 20 minutes, others were still plugging away when I had to call time at 60 minutes.
Retake the test with the prof right there. This will clear your name permanently. If you don’t do this, there will always be a cloud over your head. I’d get this out of the way now and be done with it.
You didn’t explicitly state whether you cheated or not. If you didn’t cheat, get in there quickly and show the prof that you are the Real McCoy. If you did cheat, buy some time and then get in there to take the test with the Prof so you appear to be the Real McCoy (and don’t cheat again).
Uh, no.
If the test was online for everyone, either you sign an honor code or you have electronic monitoring. You asserted that you did not cheat.
If you are being accused of cheating, then YOU tell him that you have the right to go in front of the college’s Honor Board. There is no “cloud” over your head - unless he files charges against you.
If you are just being nagged, then ignore him, that is assuming that only you are being asked to take the test on campus, and no one else is. If everyone is retaking the test on campus, then you have to too.
I’m assuming you didn’t cheat, of course…
And I’m not sure what the “option to not retake them” is…does he mean he will give you a zero if you don’t retake them? That, without going in front of the Honor Board and having an investigation, would be worrisome.
As for me, if I have concrete evidence of cheating, I will provide it to the student if they ask, and apply the penalty without going to the Honor Board if they don’t want to. But the penalty is not “retake the test” - it is “get a zero on the test” or “automatic fail of the course”. So I am confused about whether this professor is just ragging on you.
