Fire Escape Ladders for dorm room

Does anybody have any experience with any types of these ladders. I'm on the fourth floor and seriously considering this.

I'm in a 3 story house and purchased one of these just in case. They're typically rope and bar ladders with hooks at the top end that could hook over a balcony or window sill. They roll up and can be stored in a pretty small space. Forunately, I've never actually had to use it.

If you're in a modern (or modernized) dorm with a fire sprinkler system and adequate and logically placed emergency exits, you might be relatively safe without it. Keep in mind that on many campuses a popular activity is to create false fire alarms so after a while, some students don't take them seriously.

Thanks...maybe I'll check it out first and then decide. Wonder how many people are gonna send back their laptop batteries?

I already checked the batteries in two laptops - both were okay. It's worth checking and I would have had them exchanged. If nothing else, it's a way to get a new battery - older ones don't usually hold a charge for as long.
