first all nighter

ok i didnt think i d have to do this but it seems i must. With my grades going borderline (90s). I have to do everything i can to pull em up. So i procrastinated like always and have to prepare for 2 tests, do 120 alg2 problems, a project, and read 4 chapters in A tale of two cities by tomorrow. I hope i finish. I ll let yall know how it went. Anyone have any stories they wanna share about all nighters? Hope i dont fall asleep.

haha don't think you can take a nap

my first all nighter i thought "a quick nap will help" and then next thing I know my mom was waking me up for school.

My first all nighter ever was my sophomore year of high school. My literature teacher had assigned a 10-12 page research paper. We had 60 days to complete the assignment, incorporate reading, etc.

...Guess who didn't start until the night before? Well, things got a little out of hand and my friend and I ended up staying up all night typing like mad men. 7 a.m. rolls around and we're basically on autopilot (and of course, energy drinks). Finished! Best feeling ever. =) Until I had to get up to get ready for school... My friend and I congratulated each other 45 minutes later.

I'll be joining you tonight for that all nighter. xD Procrastinating as always... Good luck on your assignments! Don't sit on your bed... Sometimes it's easy to just pass out and wake up hours later, glance at the clock, and get that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach that means you know, that unless a comet strikes your school or a freak blizzard manages to blanket the ground in 6 inches of snow in less than an hour, you're screwed.

Ahah, anyway, high five. ;D

red bullll

Mmm I'm surviving on pizza and pop.

But I'm not going to school tomorrow.

Just don't turn on the tv. Next thing you know it's time to go.

This may sound insane, but early on in 9th grade, I pulled an all-nighter for no apparent reason. I knew that it would happen later on in my high school career, so I figured that I just wanted to see what it felt like. I did this over the summer too, staying awake for 24 hours straight for no apparent reason, sometimes 36-48, twice 72 hours. I went through various periods of extreme fatigue and hyperness. It was such a weird feeling. Energy drinks can also alter this experience, though they really haven't helped much with staying awake.

Flash forward to present >> This past summer, I had to pull a few all-nighters to work on some projects in a summer program. It was nothing like my leisurely all-nighters of summers past! There was a drive to finish a task before 6am. I felt like I was under so much pressure, and it fueled my ability to continue through the night. There is an odd rush of energy upon completion, and it lasts until about midday, when it seems like you can collapse at any moment. I still don't know why some of my best works come out last-minute, the night before, or from all-nighters.

Another thing about all-nighters. The accidental-all-nighter! Sometimes I get carried away on the Internet late at night with various message boards (like this one!) and other interesting things, and the time manages to fly by. Sometimes I look up at the clock -- "WOAH it's 4am!" and I see that it's pointless to attempt to sleep and deprive myself of REM when I have to wake up in an hour. It's a vicious cycle. Welcome to the club!

I have never pulled an all-nighter, but have gotten close. I always intend to give myself an hour nap and end up waking up a lot later and realizing that I had yet again manged to hit the off button on the alarm without realizing it. What helps me is turning on the radio and playing music at the same time, not loud enough to distract, but loud enough to give stimulating backround noise. Drink lots of cold water or caffeinated tea, but nothing that will make you feel sick or jittery.

i have a pepsi bottle with me. and icecream. so far so good. Only about 70 problems left. Should be dont by 230 ish .. then i can read for 2 hours then study for tests and the drop dead. Hopefully i wont fall asleep while reading.

ooh.... man... freshman/soph allnighters?

I had a few for journalism but never for schoolwork... and I go to a prep school...

Don't take pride in allnighters, seriously. I'm napping 4 hours a day + 6.5 hours of sleep (although I am a Sr., I did a similar sched. for Junior year) and I'm doing better than my days of frantic "gotta study" short sleep nights in soph year.

Here's a tip... homework & effort doesnt always equal good grades. Make sure you understand the stuff and thats all you need. Sleep helps sooo much more.

yea.. i never pulled off all nighter

I've only had to pull two all-nighters and that was last year for AP Biology.

^Yes, I pulled all-nighters VERY frequently my sophomore year for AP Biology and AP US History.

The only times I ever pulled all-nighters was when I was participating in History Day and my group kept procrastinating until the last few days. We were like zombies during our presentations. Those were fun times. hah

Just remember, no matter how many you do in high school, you'll do more in college.

ok finally, finished all my work. That was terrible. I dozed of so many times. I think ill take a 1 hour nap and wake up for school. No more procrastination from now on =]

Tonight was my first all nighter of my Sr. year. Didn't even have work, just stayed up for no reason. Weeeeeeee

I've never pulled an all-nighter, but I have gone to sleep at like 12-1 and gotten up at 3:30-4 AM to do homework.

i'm at a boarding(-ish) school, and some of the girls here pull all nighters multiple times a week. It's gotten really annoying when they come into class hysterically tired and they think it's funny.

All-nighters are pointless.

so whats the least amount of time you guys have slept in a whole school day (just those 5 days)? mine was probably 8 hours in a really bad week when we had tests almost everyday and all the procrastination caught up with me.
