First generation chance me

Hi everyone I was wondering if being a first generation college and american will boost my chances of getting in to uf

I am applying as a comp sci major and I am taking both comp sci A and Comp sci principles. Along with this I am taking dual enrollment courses at Seminole state college and I plan on obtaining my oracle certification prior to graduating.

I am also taking Calc 3 and Differential equation dual enrollments

I will have taken 16 AP classes by the time i have graduated

My weighted UF GPA is 4.35 and I got a 1350 on my first SAT

I am in NHS, German honor society, mu alpha theta and and was the president of my schools book club, and programming team.

If anyone can chance me or offer advice on how i can improve my chances of admission it would mean a lot.

The 16 AP classes will definitely help. My school allows us to take 22+ (most kids only take about 17-19), and this year they accepted a student with a 4.31 UF GPA and a 29 ACT from our school, so even though his GPA and ACT were 25th percentile, his course rigor seemed to really helped him.

If I recall, he didn’t have any leadership positions and his essay was mediocre, so if he got in you probably have a shot.

Being first generation helps, but I don’t know how much it will help. It’ll most likely be used as a tie-breaker if they’re comparing you to a student with similar stats.

Also, major doesn’t matter for admissions. You’re not applying to a particular college, you’re applying to the university as a whole. The only thing major does is placement, so, if you apply for an engineering major and don’t get in, you get put in the Gator Engineering program at SF if your stats are a step below. That’s just one example, there are other examples for PaCE and etc.

I tell a lot of people to just ask their graduating class around and hunt for their stats (if they tell you). That’s how most of us determine if we have a shot at admissions; we just wait and see if our “stats twin” gets in. It’s more about the individual school, since some schools send 90% of their kids to UF, whereas others might only have their Top-5% accepted.
