I've got a question. When is a cadet eligible or able to attend parachutist school? And for that matter what other schools are available liek that for cadets to attend while they are still cadets?

I don't know what the deal is with Fort Benning, but you can take jump at USAFA either the summer between 4 and 3 dig years or during the year as a firstie.

usafaskydiver -- yes, benjo6 is a proud receipient of blood wings (those who don't know should check it out on Wikipedia!)

Yeah, I heard about blood wings from a friend in c/o 09. He said that was one of the many things he didn't tell his mom about. I probably wouldn't either :D

Yeah, the blood wings are just an interesting extra tradition that adds to the wings. They mean the same thing and there is really no difference, its just another tradition. However, they do feel kinda weird. It really doesnt hurt that much though. Just feels strange when you pull them out.

... as would removing any sharp thing from your skin lol...

I stepped on my BDU rank last year...two prongs right through my heel. I guess that was like getting blood pinned.

I really don't understand how you boys do that... Maybe I'm just being a girl, but I don't think I'd enjoy having someone pound that pin into my skin. But congrats to you guys! I'm ridiculously jealous and hope I get to jump next year!

yeah, i'm kinda with her on that one. but...whatever floats your canoe...!

I agree with the girls :P Guys do some weird stuff some times... And I think I'm still afraid of heights, so someone might have to push me...

its for bragging rights and for a story later. and as far as heights, that isn't as much a problem as hanging outside a plane traveling 100 mph or whatever staring at the prop. thats what freaked most ppl (and i of course absolutely loved it)

I personally liked the wind and prop, that way I didn't look down so I didn't fear the height or anything. At first, for many, arching yourself outside the plane on the edge of falling is hard, but I thought it was really easy by the 5th jump since that is the key to a good free fall.

I got to go down to the jump HQ (94 FTS?) during one of my summer seminar sessions, and I was really impressed! If I receive an appointment I'd love to jump, it looks like a lot of fun.

Hornet, I think I might have seen you on Wednesday in the afternoon down at the airfield. Too bad you guys didn't get to jump that day.

Yeah jumping looks awesome. I would definitely try for WOG if I get there.

You probably did. I had already gotten 5 in by Wednesday, so I was just relaxing. Benjo was also down there too. You probably also were around at the same time as me zach.

Wow, the next applicants are already seeing the legendary hornetguy. ;)

I know, I was in total awe of his awesome air forceness. :D

lmao, you guys crack this old geezer up. Strange seeing the 2012ers and their '90s birthdays! Too fast for me.

Yeah, the class of 2011 is the last in which the bulk of the class was born in the '80s. And it does seem odd to see so many people with 90's birthdays beginning the application process. :)

Young'uns. Geez. (Hehe...as hornetguy will tell you, I am probably still younger than most 2011ers. :P)
