I recently joined HOSA, its a new club at my school so they need 6 officers. I would like to be one, but I dont know how to prepare a speech and get people to vote since Im not friends with anyone there. I reallyyyy want to get this so I can have a meaningful club that I have alot of interest in.

Rather than preparing an exact speech, I would recommend having a general idea of what you want to say, and following that. Talk directly do them, don’t regurgitate a script that you wrote on paper. Generally when it comes to leading meetings or running for positions, it’s hard to connect with people if it feels like you’re just reading lines. That’s what has worked for me (I’m the president of two clubs at my school). In the end, they aren’t going to remember the things you said so much as the way you said it. (I mean, still be smart about what you say.) Also, if you get nervous when you’re talking, people are usually pretty nice about it, so don’t worry too much about making a fool of yourself. On the first SECME meeting this year, I got really shy and awkward because we had like, 35 people show up, and everyone started clapping to make me feel better.

Thanks for the encouraging words, but the email was sent to over 100 people so I might go for reporter or Historian since those are the lowest ones and try and work myself up the officer ladder :D. I might prepare bulletpoints and read them and try to discuss them for a short time. I might go the full mile and try and look for sponsors and outside involvement to help prove to the members that I care. For example theres a chiropractor near my house so trying to get them to sponsor us would be convingcing to me. Maybe volunteer at 5k’s and whatnot also.
