First Payments? Billing? ***?

Okay, so what if the kid from CA had an EFC of $0? Then what? Work study wouldn't be enough to cover the travel to CA AND all his personal expenses and books. Would the university then pay for his flight home each summer or what?

Also, how much do you guys think, on average, you need to spend for personal expenses (are they including the things you need to by for your room as a freshman: microwave, TV, etc.) and books? Is $1 500 enough? Approximately how much did you spend your first fall semester?

Do you need to buy a microwave for your room?
I'm starting to think that I won't have room for all of this...I thought there might be microwaves for us to use...

I think I'm going to spend around $1000 for room stuff and books. But of course, I live close enough that I can bring a lot of the things I need and I don't need to fly. $1500-2000 sounds reasonable.

You can't bring a microwave, FYI. As of last year, only one model of microwave is allowed, and it's a combination microwave and fridge that you get through Tiger Rentals. Just so you know. (Some obscure NJ law, I think.)

That said, there will probably be a random microwave somewhere in/near your building, even if there's not a full kitchen.

But are there microwaves in common rooms/kitchens that we can use? How are we supposed to cook all that ramen?

ha ha! Ramen noodles LOL Zante....

Yeah, I guess they just will write a check to cover the difference... Actually, in case of hypothetical NJ kid who has an EFC of $0, they will have to write a check, too, because his workstudy portion is covered by a grant.
