I just won first place at a state competition and am going on to internationals. How should I let colleges know? Email them AOs? Through their portal?
It depends upon the college. Follow the instructions they give.
Email admissions for the colleges and let them know, asking if the new information can be added to your application.
Edit: I read Dartmouth’s page, and it did say to upload a word doc detailing the accomplishment. However, should I also include a picture of myself with the awards to sort of “verify” it and put a face to my application? Sort of humanize me?
No. Nor do they need or want copies of any certificates/press clippings, etc. Good luck.
@skieurope So they just want me to include the update in a word document and upload it? Just seems kinda odd with no verification, but I guess they can’t really bother to verify 100% of everything for their tens of thousands of applicants.
I think that’s because, regardless of the accomplishment, that one achievement probably won’t be the tipping point in your application. They don’t need verification.
Congrats, and the best of luck at Internationals!!
If admissions officers want to verify your achievement they will do so on their own or ask you for verification. For now just give the update.
