<p>so i wanna apply to nyu i think ppl will laugh in my face w.e. i talked to my counselor tell me wut u think.. i got other schools thou</p>

<p>ok so here are my "stats"</p>

<p>sats: 680 650 640
dont know SAT2 yet
GPA: 2.9...oh god big slacker here
recs from history teacher who loves me and my photography teacher.. i want to be a photojournalist
portfolio of my photo work </p>

<p>ok i am hispanic and to add to that i think i qualify for HEOP
also..prep for prep kid, contingent 25</p>

<p>ecs: photo, classes at ICP, worked every summer so far, basketball team mascot,
essay: my counseler thinks my essay is one of best of my class yet</p>

<p>basically a kinda artsy spanish kid who goes to a top private school in the city and good sat but awful gpa</p>

<p>Well I’m sorry to say this, but the people who believe in you are idiots? Anyways, SAT’s are average, GPA is way off NYU standard but you’re an URM so that will help. You also have some good EC’s, you have an interest in photography so that might help you. I’d say it’s a reach but a rec from your photography teacher will not help I don’t think unless you have a rec from another teacher in which case, a rec from you photo teacher won’t hurt at all. What’s your financial situation, since it’s private school I’m guessing really well?</p>

<p>i got into private school through a program that only takes top 15% public school kids…idk im like the biggest slacker ever legit…its a big reach ik and i like the school but w.e. ill jus go to university of miami…the photo one wont help really? thats gay lol umm yea i have like no money thats why i said i think i qualify for heop</p>

<p>I think you’ll get in – like prior poster said, have a little faith in yourself – 2.9gpa isn’t all that bad – good luck!</p>

<p>I don’t mean to sound cruel, but a 2.9 IS very low for NYU, the good news is that your SAT’s open you up to a lot of other colleges.</p>

<p>I think it’s a mega-reach but I sincerely hope you give it your best shot.</p>

<p>I think that as others have said, NYU is a reach because of your GPA. However, you are a URM with good SAT scores and interesting ECs. I don’t see why you can’t have NYU on your list, as long as you recognize it’s a reach. It’s a reach, but it’s not totally out of reach.</p>

<p>Show that your creative skills are not reflected by your GPA. Try to exhibit your artistic side in your essay. Then you have atleast a mid-high reach</p>
