First post! fafsa question.

hi i am a new member, i started school this year coming back from a good 7 year of absence from school. the first semester for me was very rocky, and ended up with a low gpa. how does that affect my fafsa? for fall 2011?

It doesn’t affect “FAFSA” in any way. You will file it just like you do each year.

What may be affected is your eligibility to receive financial aid at your school. Each school has its own satisfactory academic progress standards. Go to your school’s website and search for it.

Keep in mind that the federal government has new regulations that may result in some schools tightening up their standards (making them even more stringent). Not all schools have their SAP policies in line with the new regs yet, so some students who were okay in the past may find out that they are not okay next year. If in doubt, ask YOUR school’s financial aid office … because they are the only ones who can answer your question.
