I got a 1.9 my first semester. I know the gpa requirement for FAFSA is a 2.0. If I apply for fafsa for the second semester and bring my gpa up to a 2.0 by the end of my second semester, will I be able to be eligible to recieve aid my second semester?
FAFSA is just a form you fill out for federal financial aid. You don’t “apply for FAFSA” and FAFSA doesn’t have requirements.
I assume what you’re really asking is whether or not you’ll still be eligible for federal and college financial aid. Every school has something called Satisfactory Academic Progress that you have to meet. Most set their GPA requirement for SAP at 2.0 though they’ll often give you a semester to bring up your GPA.
You need to talk to a counselor at your school to figure out whether or not you’ve met SAP and are still eligible for aid.
So if my schools SAP was that you would still recieve aid if you got below a 2.0 fot the first time, I would still recieve federal aid right?
You need to,contact YOUR cllege, with this question. Every school has its own policies regarding satisfactory academic progress.
I would also strongly suggest you figure out why you had a sub 2.0 GPA. You are going to need a very high GPA,this second term to turn that around. If you don’t know why your grades we’re so low, and work on that issues or issues, your next term could be just the same.
You should be able to, yes. You need to talk to your school to be sure though.
You do not file a new FAFSA for second semester financial aid. Your school might not award any more FA based on your failing to meet the minimum. You need to work through your FA office.
What? I thought you applied every year… I applied last year
Your FAFSA is for,the 2015-2016 academic year which started fall 2015 and ends spring 2016.
You will, file another FAFSA for the next academic year 2016-2017 sometime after January 1, but that will be for NEXT school year.
The FAFSA does not run on calendar years…it runs on academic years of,school.
Oh ok wow thanks
