I stumbled onto this site and am overwhelmed by the outstanding credentials of everyone. My son is half hispanic, half irish. His mother emigarted from Colombia and became a citizen in 1995. He scored 192 on the psat and 2060 on the june sat: 710m; 640v; 710 w; 11/12essay; 640 bio sat ii; math2 and other bio will take in fall; waiting ap bio score-prob 4/5-loves bio. He has received a lot of literature citing his psat scores and his counselor was contacted by national hispanic recognition program. I was surprised by some of the letters especially from ivy's but I guess they mail those to everyone. His gpa is 3.2/3.7 -bad freshman year, we probably should have held him back as he won't turn 17 until mid-december, youngest member of 500+ person class-but he's always been big-6', 205, size 13.5 shoe! Plays football obviously-loves it, will start both ways as senior at center and defensive line, running for captain-considering college ball or lax. Also 3 year varsity lacrosse deenseman and 1 year track (shotput). Not much other ec's : he's always training in offseason; works part time at friends dry cleaners for spending money; volunteers at firehouse for community service. Ivy a waste of time?
