First quarter grades for likely letter

Hi All,

I was informed today that I need to send in my midquarter grades so that AdCom at an Ivy that I'm committed too can make sure I'm handling my classes (I'm taking 4 APs this year compared to 1 last year). However, I currently have a B, B, B, and A- in them--will I not get my letter now? The coach assured me that it's nothing to worry about and that it's a normal thing but I'm worried. I had a tough start to the quarter because I took 5 officials, but I'm working my way back (if you were to take out my first test grade in 2 of those 4 APs, my average would be an A-). Am I not going to get the letter now?

Haha…deep breath. I wouldn’t worry.

Do you think so? I was all set on my pre-read but obviously my grades were higher then. My hunch is that they just want to make sure that I can actually handle the AP courseload but I’m not sure how they will view me getting Bs right now. Just a bit stressed and hoping that this will all be over soon

I’m also a non-revenue sport athlete if it makes a difference

Oh wait, non-revenue? Uh oh. (kidding)

I just know that they hold those kids to a higher academic expectation. I’m sorry I’m not trying to sound ignorant I have a friend who was just screwed over by H with his sport/coach so I’m just a bit worried and I wasn’t sure how to take this

^ sorry for making light of it. I know what it’s like to get crazy stressed this time of year when the LLs are in play. I really don’t think B’s are going to be any sort of issue. I remember D getting the first C of her career after getting her LL and that caused some (unfounded) angst. I really think you’re ok.

Don’t worry; B’s will not prevent you from getting a likely letter.

Have you gotten the LL yet?

Not yet :frowning: hopefully soon though
