Asked for quarter grades

So, I am being considered for a LL, and obviously the school is reading my file because they contacted my Guidance Counselor today asking to see my first quarter grades. I am curious as to whether they do this for most athletes/EA applicants or just for ones on the fence.

And I am also curious as to how a C+ would look. It has been the first C+ I have received on a quarter or semester report, and it has NOT been due to senioritis (which is probably evident from the rest of the grades being A's). The C+ is already back up to a B, and my GC said she would explain the inherent difficult nature of the class, but do you guys think they will really see that as me slacking in senior year?

Can’t help you with your C+ question - I think that will really depend on the rigor of the school you go to and the individual responses of the admissions officers reviewing your transcript. However, regarding the quarter grades, if it is any comfort to you, the admissions office at the school my daughter has committed to asked for the quarter grades of the entire recruiting class. So, I doubt you are alone!

Good luck!!

Forewarned is forearmed. If you have it back up to a “B”, get your guidance counselor to note this in her letter.

I could tell you a horror story about the difference between an 81 and a 79 in BC Calc to an admissions committee-get the letter!

Well I don’t really need to worry anymore. Getting my likely letter next week! Thanks everyone for your input :)

Big congrats, xfxjumper! Wouldn’t it be nicer if they called them “definitely letters?”

Congrats, Jumper. Finish high school well and have a great college experience.

Fabulous news - congratulations!!
