First quarter grades

How important are first quarter grades in college admissions? I am applying ED and am slightly worried. Although my GPA will be about the same ( or slightly higher than last year) I have a bunch more B’s in my classes.

If I have half B’s and half A’s will this look bad for top colleges? I am in all AP’s at a high school ranked in the top ten public schools in the nation.

thanks

Your first quarter won’t change things. You just said your GPA will be about the same.

I heard that if the committee is split about their decision, they call your school’s counselor to check up on your first quarter grades.
I’m pretty sure only a major drop during first quarter will be an issue though (For example: You had a 4.0, but then first quarter you had a 3.2 or something, which shows that you’re slacking off), so you should be fine.

Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better.

First quarter grades ate not important at all. Colleges usually only look at semester grades. But if theres drops in grades they might request quarter grades.

Look when your school recalculates GPAs. Ours did it after Junior year and then sometime late Senior year.

@Soccerchic24 My school goes by quarters though, so the grade for the first marking period will be final before the decision comes out. The decison comes out 12/15 and grades are done by 11/15 ish.
