Hi guys! I’m applying to Cornell ED in a few weeks and I would like to know if Cornell checks first quarter grades, NOT first semester grades. My school divides the semester into three parts, so I would like to know if they send that first part’s grades in. If so, how much do they affect my application?
Yes, they do want to see your 1st Q grades for senior year, especially since you are ED. They are looking at the transcript from end of junior year, so they want to make sure you are still taking rigor in your senior year and to see how your grades are in those classes so far. Your GC should send your 1st Q grades. If Cornell does not receive them, then they may call your GC to get them.
Exactly correct, Cornell called my D’s GC for her first Q grades about 3 weeks before ED admit date.
Thank you so much! I’m just very concerned because my Calculus BC grade isn’t really on par with my other math grades (I currently have an 81). I know my overall average will go over 90, but how bad would it look?
Well your grade is your grade. Don’t worry too much about it. You’ve got a B to start off the year and that’s OK.
Schools also know that BC Calc is one of the hardest AP’s (the hardest at my school because our AP physics teacher is nice). They also do not see the percent, so for all they know, it could be an 89. I would not worry too much about it!
Thank you everyone so much!
