First Semester Class Advice

Hi, I will be a freshman come aug (and really excited!) and looking for someone to give some class advice. I plan on beginning a pre-med track, majoring in chem. According to the advising website, it recommends I start with chem 111 and math 111–and I am nervous that it may be too much. I took AP in 11th grade and did pretty well in the class with a very hard teacher; I shamefully only got a 3 on the exam, but I kind of blame that it was the first year with the new exam, no teachers knew how to prepare us, and the college board screwed it up (as evident that this year, students got more time). I took calc this year as a senior, but not AP. My class followed the general AB curriculum, but I do not think our application problems were nearly as difficult. Im also nervous because I keep hearing about Wake’s grade deflation…what are your thoughts on this?

Also, any other advice you have for incoming freshman? Anything you wish you had known as a freshman that you know now?

Thanks!

Calc1 and either chem1 or bio1 sound right, but make sure you include one class that others recommend as ‘easy’

Do both. If you’re pre-med, you can’t shy away from taking two difficult classes in one semester.

A 1st semester freshman hoping for premed must learn how to balance his/her schedule, and first semester should NEVER be overloaded.
