Any recommendation for a first semester schedule for a Kelley DA, leaning accounting but not 100%.

Get I-Core pre reqs out of the way first.

Pre Req’s:

ENG-W 131 Elementay Composition
BUS-X 104 Business Presentations or CMCL-C 121 Public Speaking (CMCL is easier from what I hear)
BUS-X 204 Business Communications
MATH-M 118 Finite Mathematics
MATH-M 119 Brief Survey of Calculus or MATH-M 211 Calc I (4 cr.)(M119 is easier)
BUS-K 201 The Computer In Business
BUS-X 201 Technology
BUS-X 220 Career Perspectives (2 cr., 8 weeks)
BUS-A 100 Basic Accounting Skills (1 cr., 8 weeks)
BUS-A 201 Intro To Financial Accounting
BUS-A 202 Intro To Managerial Accounting
BUS-L 201 Legal Environment Of Business
ECON-E 201 Intro To Microeconomics
ECON-E 370 Statistical Analysis or MATH-K 310 Statistical Techniques (K310 is easier from what I hear)
BUS-G 202 Business and Economic Strategy in Public Arena (2 cr., 15 weeks)

My ideal schedule if I came in with no pre req’s:
BUS-A 100 (first 8 weeks, pre req for A201 and A202)
BUS-X 220 (second 8 weeks)
BUS-K 201 (pre req for X201)
CMCL-C 121 (I think pre req for X204, not positive)
MATH-M 119 (pre req for E370/K310, Calc I if you are going for a Math minor)
ENG-W 131 (pre req for X204)

If you’re like me and came in w/ ENG-W 131 and MATH-M 211 satisfied, I would substitute in ECON-E 201 and MATH-M 118 (pre req for E370, but not K310)

Also, if you are trying to graduate w/ either business honors or hutton honors, about one class per semester should be honors. E201 was a very easy class for me, Honors Stats and Honors Law have very high grades given to the classes (grade inflation for honors students?).

I know this has been covered elsewhere, but I’m still a little confused. Can any Kelley direct admit student take honors business courses, or do you have to be an honors student?

You have to be in Hutton Honors College in order to take honors business classes your freshman year. If you get accepted into the business honors program during the summer after freshman year, then you can take honors business classes the next three years.

Some sections of I-Core prerequisite classes (G202 and X104) accept direct admit business students only, but they don’t get honors credit for the class.

stlramsfan, if you are majoring in accounting at Kelley and also are in Hutton Honors College, study the grade distribution reports and take some honors classes in the COAS in order to build up your gpa before you start taking upper-level accounting classes. Accounting classes are graded very tough at Kelley, and the average accounting graduate’s gpa is probably in the 3.2-3.3 range, unless they are in business honors, and then it will probably be 3.5+, in part because the average grade for honors I-Core (14 credits) is about 3.7 and for regular I-Core is about 3.0. The Hutton classes are not very difficult and just about everybody gets an A. You can see the grades for HON H203, H204, etc. are very high, as are grades for other Hutton classes.

[Grade Distribution Reports: Office of the Registrar: Indiana University Bloomington](http://registrar.indiana.edu/gradedist/)

My course description book doesnt seem to include all honors class, so I’m a it confused.

Is there a “basic Accounting Skills” honors?

and I’m also scared I’m going to be overloaded with take Finite Math and Basic Accounting Skills in my first semester since Math is definately not my strong point. Despite that, is it still good to do? or will I be overwelmed and regret it later on?

There’s no basic A100 Accounting honors…basically if you make it past the midterm, you’re doing fine. A100 is the first weed out class and around half the class drops the class after the midterm

However, there are honors version of Financial Accounting(A205) and Managerial Accounting(A207) you can take after you’re done with A100.
